WATCH VIDEO FROM GRACE: HOW TO MAKE A ZINE
Learning how to get along is one of life's basic lessons and one of the hardest to learn. I would have loved these books as a young girl. Their mix of quirky pictures and text, funny situations, and good intentions would have appealed to my wanting-to-do-the-right-thing heart.
In Just Grace, six-year-old Grace's idea to cheer up her neighbor, who broke her leg, doesn't quite go according to plan. In Still Just Grace, Grace has to work on a school project with a girl she calls ''Big Meanie.'' It's a stretch to see if they can get along and finish their project and, in turn, help the new student teacher. Just Grace Walks the Dog introduces us to Grace's dog -- who's made of cardboard--and her plan to encourage her parents to let her have a real dog.
Narrated by Grace, these books ring true, showing girls what they can do to treat others with kindness and do the right thing—even if that means being friendly to the boy who picks his nose!
