Edith Nesbit
These two unabridged stories are deliciously beastly. And beasty. Centered on mythical creatures, they have just the right amount of suspense to keep listeners glued to the CD player and into the dilemmas of all involved. There's Lionel, the boy king who becomes fascinated by the forbidden ''The Book of Beasts'' in the palace library.
When a real dragon escapes from the book, things turn awesomely complicated, but all turns out well in the end. As it does with ''The Dragon Tamers,'' in which a dragon living in a blacksmith's basement keeps things, let's just say, interesting, and ultimately turns into the first pussy cat known to mankind. You'll have to listen to find out how it all comes together! (Although we recommend this for ages 6 and up, younger children may also enjoy it, depending on their tolerance for suspense.)
