George Macdonald
Part of what makes this audio so special is that it has a whole cast of performers giving fresh voices to each character (rather than one reader using several different voices), so that the listener feels one step closer to a stage on which a play is being performed. This beloved and witty fairy tale stirs the imagination, makes you laugh, makes you wonder, and makes you happy that George MacDonald concocted the story in the first place.
A newborn princess can sometimes be the subject of a curse. The usual suspect is often a relative who has been overlooked when the christening invitations went out. ''Gravity'' is the issue with this curse, or rather, the lack of it. Our princess spends her time floating in the air, but just as importantly, she is unable to take anyone, or anything, seriously. Perhaps it will take a sweetly singing prince to bring her down to earth. This makes for hilarity, as well as some ''aha!'' moments of realizing just what it would mean to be without gravity in one's life. The Light Princess is funny, thought-provoking, profound, and a feast for the mind's eye.
