Easy, Money-Saving Tips for Eco-Friendly Families
Melissa Seligman, David Seligman
With so many ''green'' books out there these days, it's hard to know what's worth reading and what isn't. I have read quite a few, myself, but this book struck me as different. It is written for families by a husband and wife team who run their own home based on ''green principles'' that they outline in this book. David Seligman has a degree in natural resource conservation with an emphasis on environmental policy.
The book doesn't guilt you into anything. It also doesn't overwhelm you with science or scare you with statistics. Instead, this couple outlines practical, simple steps that families can take to lower their energy consumption and save money. For example, they show you how to heat and cool your home while lowering your energy bills, choose houseplants that help purify the air in your home, expose the electronic ghosts that are sucking away power and money, grocery shop smarter, and much, much more. Finally, and maybe most importantly, they show you how to involve your children every step of the way so that it is fun for them and something they want to do!
