We've all read the research validating the importance of family dinners, but consistently pulling them off is another thing! As a new mom, I was determined to have regular, healthful family dinners. By the time my daughter was a teen, though, she'd make up any excuse to have ''dinner'' (i.e., fast food) at friends' houses.
If I could do it all over again, I would have lightened up a little and done things the Food Nanny way, borrowing from the 200 delicious, kid—and budget—friendly recipes in this book. Don't get me wrong. There's plenty of nutrition here, and you can always make adaptations to fit your needs, but if you are committed to a vegan, vegetarian, or macrobiotic lifestyle, this book probably isn't for you.
