A few years ago, a couple of toddlers I knew had books similar to our People Who Love Me photo album. They carried these books around in their chubby little fingers almost everywhere they went. They slept with them, played with them and sometimes even ate with them. Often, when I would visit their home, I would find them plopped on the living room floor gazing at the photographs of all the people who loved them. (Lucky me, I got to be the star of one of the pages.) Their albums were filled with grandmas and grandpas, cousins, friends and siblings, and of course, their mama and papa. When Aidan was a toddler, I suggested to Becca and Laura that they make a similar book for him. They had fun collecting all kinds of pictures, some serious, some silly, of all the people Aidan loved. And not surprisingly, he was just as captivated with his book as those other toddlers were with theirs. His book, four years later and much worse off for the wear, is still a treasured belonging that never strays far from his bed.

We searched the market looking for a small photo album to offer all our Chinaberry toddler friends and customers, and sadly, we found nothing of sufficient quality to offer you. But not being ones to give up, we persevered until we found a company that would custom make these albums to our specifications. They are small, barely bigger than a 4" x 6" photograph, which makes them a perfect size for small fingers to hold and manipulate. Sturdy and soft (they are covered in beautiful deep blue velvet that just begs to be caressed), they are designed to hold 20 pictures ... an album big enough to hold plenty of aunties, uncles and cousins but not so big that a child from a small family would feel sad if part of the book were empty. Each album is debossed with the words "People Who Love Me" in simple lettering. Older children may have fun decorating the plastic sleeves with the mini sticker collection we have enclosed. What better thought is there for a child than to know that the world is filled with people who love him just for being himself.

When we created these caressable velvet albums for our catalog, we had no idea what a hit they would also be with adults. While we got glowing letters from moms about how much their children loved their albums, we also got letters from people who purchased them for ailing parents, retiring co-workers, grown children going away to college, and even for themselves. With all the challenges of being a "grown up" these days, who couldn't use a reminder that there are people who care about their well-being! Why not surprise a friend with a book filled with the people who love her? Or get one for yourself and bring it out whenever you're feeling down.

Shipping Rates and Information

We ship all orders from our warehouse in Spring Valley, California on the next business day (Monday through Friday) from when you placed your order. Depending upon your location, your order should arrive within 3 to 14 days.

We ship by both UPS and the U.S. postal service. We select whichever method provides the most efficient delivery of the items you've ordered. If you prefer one method over the other, please let us know. We need to have a physical street address for UPS. Please include shipping as indicated by the following chart, based on your merchandise subtotal:

Faster Shipping:

Priority Mail - Add $7.95 to your standard shipping rate above. After your order is shipped, you can expect it in 3-5 business days.

UPS 2nd Day Air - Add $11.95 to standard shipping (Continental U.S.). We need a physical street address. This guarantees you will get your order within 2-3 business days (excluding weekends) after we ship it.

UPS One Day Air - Add $21.95 to standard shipping (Continental USA only). We need a physical street address. This guarantees you will get your order one business day after we ship it (excluding weekends).

Alaska and Hawaii - We normally ship all HI and AK orders by U.S. Mail Parcel Post. Add $7.95 to regular shipping for PRIORITY MAIL; after your order is shipped, you can expect it within 3-10 mailing days. Add $15.00 to regular shipping for UPS 2ND DAY AIR; please allow 3-4 business days from the time your order is shipped. (We need a street address.) No UPS to APO/FPO addresses.

Canadian Shipping:
We ship Canadian orders via international surface or air. Payment must be in U.S. funds. The order recipient will be responsible for any duty/custom charges when the package arrives in Canada.

Surface Mail rates:
Orders under $100.00---our regular shipping rates
Orders over $101.00---13% of the subtotal

Air mail rates:
Add 20% of your subtotal---$6.00 minimum charge

International Shipping:

We hope to offer you international ordering online soon. In the meantime, you may call 619-670-5200, fax 619-670-5203, or email us at customerservice@chinaberry.net with your order to find out what your shipping charge would be. If you are having your order shipped internationally, UPS requires that you include a phone number for them to contact for delivery information.

We ship international orders (except Canadian) via UPS International Air courier only. While this ensures your order will arrive very quickly (3-5 business days), it is also very expensive. (Shipping generally begins at about $50.00 for a one pound package and goes up with weight.)

As an affordable alternative, many of our international customers have their orders shipped to a friend or relative in the U.S who will forward the orders on to them.

Sales Tax

We collect sales tax based on the "ship to" address of your order. We are required to collect sales tax in California, which is where we are located. If you're shipping to California, please include tax as follows:

Calculate 7.75% of the total of your merchandise.

We don't collect tax on gift certificates.

Sales Tax Exemption

We are required by law to collect sales tax on any orders going to California. If you are a tax-exempt organization, we need to have a copy of the Exemption Certificate issued to you by the State of California on file before you can order tax-free. You may either mail or fax (619-670-5203) us a copy of your certificate. We ask that you place your orders by mail, fax (619-670-5203) or phone. If you are ordering by phone, please call our customer service line, 1-888-481-6744, between 6am and 6pm Pacific time.

Return Policy

If you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, simply return it within 4 months for a refund of the item price or an exchange for another item. For items returned after 4 months, we will give you a Chinaberry credit for the purchase price. On the back of your invoice, we provide you with a return form to complete. Please include it with your returned item(s). If an item is defective or if the order was filled incorrectly, we will send you a prepaid return label. If you have lost your return form, click here to print one out. We will do our best to handle the transaction quickly and in accordance with your wishes.
