Misadventures in Fatherhood
Steve Doocy
Reading the subtitle, ''Misadventures in Fatherhood,'' I wonder if Steve Doocy appreciates what a funny inspiration of a father he truly is. Yes, he covers some offbeat incidents from his journey as a parent—and does so with show-stopping humor—but beyond his words, you sense the powerful and protective love he has for his family. Actually, ''misadventures'' is the perfect word, because from the very start we know he is human.
The father of 3, he chronicles some of his ''peak'' experiences growing up as a boy in Kansas, as well as growing up as a father to his brood in New Jersey. His accounts of some of his noteworthy moments as a kid and teenager are woven among stories of his own family, and by the end of the book, we know that his kids have an awesome dad who takes parenting seriously, but at the same time doesn't take himself too seriously.
You will laugh out loud, be nostalgic for the good and awkward times of your own youth and parenting challenges, appreciate the journey of fathers, and want the book to just keep on going. ''G''-rated and down-to-earth, Tales from the Dad Side is the perfect book for dads, but moms need to read it, too.
