One of my greatest joys when I was young was listening to classical music and having pictures arise in my mind, stimulated by what I was hearing. So you can imagine how happy I was to find this book, which is all about the wonders of pictorial music. It is a game children will love, while learning so much! The author has cleverly paired well-known classical pieces of music with great works of art. We are given clues: ''Can you hear the busy bumblebee?'' One searches for the clue in the painting on the pages, while listening to the piece of music in the included CD, and then raising one's hand (or getting up and dancing like an insect!) when the bumblebee arrives, via violins and flute. (This clue is from ''The Flight of the Bumblebee'' by Rimsky-Korsakov.) You get the picture! I can't tell you how fun this is. There is a great section on musical instruments, along with fascinating notes in the back about the composers and artists, plus additional educational resources. I simply love this book. And so will you and your children!
