Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life

Wendy Mass
One month before his thirteenth birthday, Jeremy receives a mysterious locked wooden box with his name and ''The Meaning of Life'' engraved across the top. There are four locks on the box, but no keys, and he must open the box when he turns thirteen!
Luckily, Jeremy's best friend, Lizzy, is on the case, too, and is a bit more ''creative'' with her methods of finding a way into Jeremy's box than he is. A little brush with the law begins a chain of events that has Jeremy and Lizzy taking a journey that leads to unexpected people, places, and experiences.
I wish there were more books that deal with coming-of-age in such a thoughtful and loving way. It is definitely on my must-read list!
