Ten-year-old Jonathan lives with his father, who has moved up to Anchorage to be keeper at the Alaska Zoo. Jonathan is lonely for his mother and sister, who are staying behind in Minnesota until school gets out in June. Little does Jonathan know that a young brown bear feels the same way he does. The bear is separated from his mother, too, and is heading toward Anchorage, lost, alone, and hungry. When boy and bear meet up, trouble and triumph await them both.
