What a sunny, interesting book this is, full of all kinds of creatures from all over the world and how they live. I love the rhymes: ''Leaping tiger, eyes like glass, likes to hide in jungle grass,'' or ''Patient heron, with long bill, stands by rivers, statue-still.'' The illustrations are full of light and pleasing colors. There's a whole section in the back about different habitats. Children will learn just what a habitat is, and be introduced to animals from the Australian bushland, deserts, gardens, jungles, mountains, river habitats, savannahs, the tropics, underground homes, and woodlands. Readers can also search for hidden spiders on every page and read a section in the back on different kinds of spiders and their homes. All in all, this is a most enticing adventure into the intricate places animals of the earth call home.
