Illustrated by Nicola Smee
I'm going to let the experiences of a couple of our Chinaberry children give you an idea of what kind of reception you can expect with this fun book. Fourteen-month-old Willow is already an enthusiastic book-lover, game for giving any book a try. But Clip-Clop is the first book she's ever insisted on being read 5 (count 'em) times in a row.
Not only that, when her 2 ½-year-old pal in another part of the house heard the story being read aloud and the resultant giggles, she made a bee-line for the couch and ended up rapt, along with Willow. Then there's 4-year-old Tristin, a little harder to please book-wise, who guffawed his way through his reading and wanted to hear it 3 times, back to back.
It's a simple little story about one Mr. Horse, who agrees to take one farm animal after another out for a ride— the four of them eventually promising to hold on tight if he goes a little faster. ''Clippity-clop. Faster, faster! Clippity-clop. Faster, faster! Clippity-cloppity, clippity-cloppity...'' You probably get the picture.
