A high school teacher wrote, ''If I could buy one book for parents and educators of kids, this would be it.'' Every day this man sees kids who carry a deep sense of ''entitlement'' and ''specialness''; are self-absorbed, with very little ''sense of other''; have been given everything, but cannot make it in the world; are rude and arrogant and have little regard for elders, the less fortunate, or larger social needs and values; and are, ultimately, deeply insecure and isolated human beings. These kids have been raised by conscious, well-intended parents who just want their children to be loving and capable. What has gone wrong?
