We must journey deep into that magical place that holds our own understanding of our soul's knowing, our own soul's magic. We live in a world where it is so easy to forget that we, too, are a child of the heavens, a child with magnificent gifts if only we choose to remember and use them with love.

In The Seven Songs of Merlin we watch Merlin's desperate attempts to save his mother from dying. He must journey to the Otherworld, the realm of spirit, and meet the all-powerful Dagda to beg for the elixir of life. To complete this epic task, Merlin must understand the "essential soul" of each of the seven songs of Tuatha, Merlin's Wizard Grandfather. In the course of learning the essence of each song, Merlin also learns about his essential self. Each song holds a truth that must live inside of Merlin for him to master his destiny. Merlin symbolically shows the reader the way of the wizard, that magical archetype that speaks of the right use of power and the sense of personal sovereignty that is gained when we become the wizard of our own lives.

The epic continues in book three, The Fires of Merlin, where Merlin is fighting for his life and the life of all Fincarya. Valdearg, the greatest dragon of all time, has awakened from a magic sleep when his children are murdered. Determined to seek revenge for their deaths, Valdearg ravages the land, leaving death and destruction in his fiery wake. Merlin, tricked by Urnalda, the leader of the dwarves, allows himself to be stripped of his magic powers. Merlin must fight the dragon unarmed unless he can learn the true source of his power, that is his to claim unless he unknowingly gives it away. Somehow Merlin must learn to see the truth inside himself, to listen to the voice of his heart and know the true nature of power, for it is in this knowing that Merlin will be able save Fincarya.

Profound and exciting, The Fires of Merlin feeds our very souls. Young Merlin's journey continues, as he must travel through time to meet himself as an old man. Merlin can only solve his struggles in the present by confronting himself in the future and bringing back a key from the sage's wisdom. The story just seems to grow richer and deeper with each volume.

The Mirror of Merlin wrestles yet again with the angst of listening and acting from one's own sense of destiny and strength. Merlin is tested again and again, proving his powers both to the world and to himself. And it is in his own view of himself that the hardest tests lie, just as with most of us. Knowing our own true worth, we are all magicians.

In The Wings of Merlin, Barron's spectacular conclusion to this epic series, Merlin steps fully into his power as the great magician he is and comes to know the miraculous power of forgiveness. A finer end could not be found to this remarkable series.

Taken as a whole, these books are like a course in living. All the deepest lessons in life are found between the pages of these five books, books any child would be blessed to read. Any of these books would make an excellent gift. So memorable, children will probably keep them to share with their children. I would be amazed if these don't prove to be some of your child's favorite books ever!

Alaska, Hawaii and U.S. Territories - We normally ship all HI and AK orders by U.S. Mail Parcel Post (normal delivery time is 2-4 weeks). Add $8.95 to regular shipping for PRIORITY MAIL; after your order is shipped, you can expect it within 3-10 mailing days. Canadian and International Shipping:

Sales Tax

We collect sales tax based on the "ship to" address of your order. We are required to collect sales tax in California, which is where we are located. If you're shipping to California, please include tax as follows:

We don't collect tax on gift certificates.

Sales Tax Exemption

We are required by law to collect sales tax on any orders going to California. If you are a tax-exempt organization, we need to have a copy of the Exemption Certificate issued to you by the State of California on file before you can order tax-free. Return Policy

If you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, simply return it within 4 months for a refund of the item price or an exchange for another item. For items returned after 4 months, we will give you a Chinaberry credit for the purchase price. On the back of your invoice, we provide you with a return form to complete. Please include it with your returned item(s). If an item is defective or if the order was filled incorrectly, we will send you a prepaid return label. If you have lost your return form, click here to print one out. We will do our best to handle the transaction quickly and in accordance with your wishes.
