WATCH VIDEO for Out of My Mind
Ten-year-old Melody has a photographic memory and is the smartest child in her whole school, but no one knows it because she is trapped by cerebral palsy in a body that can hardly function. Melody has to be fed and dressed, and for years she has been stuck in a classroom with other mentally-challenged children—listening to the same pre-school alphabet lessons over and over. She also has to endure the teasing and unkind words of classmates and teachers who do not treat her like a human being. Only Melody's parents and one caregiver have an inkling of the richness of who she really is.
When Melody discovers that she can talk through a computer, she is able to speak for the very first time. A whole other world begins to open up for her, but will the students and teachers have the interest, understanding, and compassion to include her in their world?
