Creating Traditions in the Kitchen
Maria Helm Sinskey
Talk to anyone who has fond memories of childhood times in the kitchen, and you'll likely see a glowing face and sparkling eyes. Being included in making a meal that those you love will eat together makes a lasting impression on children. I vividly remember being in charge of the scrambled eggs on Sunday mornings, stirring milk into the cream of tomato soup when our garden was overflowing with tomatoes in summer, and sautéing onions and celery for the Thanksgiving turkey's dressing every year. Making these meals a family cooking affair brought us together, taught us kids the way around a kitchen, and created memories.
Family Meals will be a staple in your kitchen.
