As we grow older, the rate at which our cells turn over slows down. When we were teenagers, we had new cells on our faces every 14 days, but by the time we reach 50, cell replacement takes considerably longer than 28 days. The result? Well, compare the skin of an 18-year-old with yours, and you'll get the point. Not that we want to look 18, but having a radiantly glowing complexion does seem like a good thing, don't you think?!
That's why we exfoliate -– to remove that top layer of dead skin cells to make way for new ones. If a person has tough, oily skin (or if they're an exfoliant addict like I am), they can exfoliate every three to four days. For others, once a week is great for deep pore cleansing, optimum cell renewal, and increased absorption of moisturizers and other treatments. (I recommend that you exfoliate at night when your skin isn't going to be exposed to the sun, because your skin is more vulnerable after exfoliation.)
Enessa's Bio-Exfoliant (our favorite) provides dramatic results from the first time you use it. It's made with Dead Sea salts, seaweed, flaxseeds, and essential oils and is formulated to gently exfoliate your skin and stimulate new cell growth, leaving your skin feeling tingly fresh. You'll look forward to the experience. Even become addicted maybe.
