Artists have been making unique pottery in Boleslawiec, Poland since the early Middle Ages. Today, their handmade pottery remains different from any others, and I'm absolutely in love with its beauty. The clay they excavate from the area is of extremely high quality, and the finished product feels solid and durable in your hands. Each piece is a unique creation of beauty, individually signed by the artist.
In our society of fast everything, where quantity seems to trump quality, these mugs affirm that art and beauty are still alive and well. Somehow it feels comforting hearing that Polish pottery is making a resurgence in the U.S. Things can't be too hopeless when people still yearn for Old World beauty and craftsmanship, even when it costs more than what's being mass produced on an assembly line.
